Plankeye

30 10 2009

My wife and I switched cars yesterday. Rather than just take her car key like I normally do, I grabbed her house key in case she left through the garage and locked the door leading in from the garage behind her, which is absolutely unnecessary but seems to happen when she’s the last one out the door.

When I got home later she met me with an icy glare. She’d almost been locked out of the house because when I’d come back home for lunch I had locked the garage door behind me. By the grace of God she’d thought to bring my house key with her.

Whoops.

I was so focused on someone else’s potential faults that I committed the same thing myself.  Let me humble myself and see myself as Jesus does (a poor, miserable sinner, desperately in need of God’s grace) before I even think of suggesting how others should act.  Plank, meet eye.

(Matthew 7:1-5)
